Abstract
SUAREZ CANTOS, Jonathan. On earth as it is in heaven. The construction of the Pentecostal evangelical subject through church rituals. Rev. colomb. soc. [online]. 2022, vol.45, n.1, pp.325-346. Epub Dec 28, 2023. ISSN 0120-159X. https://doi.org/10.15446/rcs.v45n1.90204.
The main objective of this article is to analyze how the rituals of the evangelical Pentecostal churches construct subjects. It is interesting to know how the Pentecostal liturgy contributes to the transmission of a set ofvalues, beliefs, and behaviors that allow religious subjects to position themselves in front of social life. This article seeks to understand how the socialization processes that occurs during ritual times contributes to the internaliza-tion and acceptance of what is sacred by believers. Through ritual, contemporary evangelical Pentecostal churches provide their parishioners with a particular type of education or indoctrination on the basis of their faith that builds believers who will later interact in different social settings, trying to generate subjects who practice in their social life what is conventional in their religious experience, seeking to reproduce on earth what they consider eternal and unchanging values of heaven, or what is the same, the Kingdom of God.
