Abstract

BRAVO OSORIO, Leidy Marcela. Thought, Word, Action and Territory: Prospects and Challenges for Addressing Environmental and Territorial Issues, with Residents of Low Caquetá River, Colombia. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Tecnol. [online]. 2015, n.38, pp.75-94. ISSN 0121-3814.

This paper presents the results of a research carried out with residents of the left bank of the river basin under Caquetá (CBRC), aimed at clarifying the relationship between their discourses and practices related to the environment by the settlers and the discourses identified in the framework of the implementation of participatory ecology project for the integrated management of wetlands and the fisheries resource Caquetá river basin (Colombian Amazon), stating the relationship found in the process of territorial constitution, characteristic of this part of the country. It is a qualitative research, that uses techniques and tools of the ethnographic method, such as the diary, participant observation, not directed interview, visual registration and identification of social agents, to start a dialogue about the ways of understanding the environment among the different agents in the area. This research study intends to be a discussion issue for the population and governmental and non-governmental organizations, interested in issues such as land use, proper management of resources and environment, recovery of traditional knowledge and educational processes. It also generates reflections regarding those other scenarios where graduates in Biology from Pedagógica Nacional University play an important role. The results show that in the current situation the departments of Amazonas and Vaupés, forms of relationship with the environment and the territory of indigenous and "white out" overlap, this creates disorder in the territorial management and causes a lack of real spaces of respect and coexistence, that enable a cultural exchange to build the territory that both sides need and want. This highlights the idea that a real territorial and environmental management, can only come from a process in advance for the people who inhabit the territory and have the knowledge to live there. Tensions are evident when nominally conceived "participation" of the local communities in making decisions that directly affect their lives. There remain questions as: are their points of view really heard? ¿are they taken into account when making maps guards? if so why are there geographical boundaries present?, why do they need to zone their territories when they have historically lived in other ways allowing the recreation of life and the living?.
