Abstract
DELFIN ORTEGA, ODETTE V. and MELO VAZQUEZ, ANALÍ. PUBLIC TRANSPORT EFFICIENCY IN THE CITY OF MORELIA, MICHOACÁN (MEXICO) IN THE YEAR 2015: A DATA ENV ELOPMENT ANALYSIS. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2017, vol.25, n.2, pp.7-23. ISSN 0121-6805. https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.3066.
This article is the result of an investigation to know the efficiency level of public transport in the city of Morelia, Michoacán (Mexico) in 2015, covering the 46 urban bus routes that circulate in the city. In order to do so, the methodology of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used, carrying out the calculation of Global Technical Efficiency using the Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (CCR) model, Pure Technical Efficiency with the Banker model, Charnes and Cooper (BCC), and Scale Efficiency (EE). The results were obtained from the variables units, hours, frequency, trips and kilometers traveled. With the results obtained, it was observed that the global technical efficiency was determined by the efficiency of scale, where an efficiency level of 0.93 was obtained on average and most of the units operated under increasing returns.
