Abstract

MUSSET, Alain. The Just City's Myth, A Neoliberal Cheatings. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2015, vol.25, n.1, pp.11-20. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v1n25.53216.

The Just City is today one of the most used notions in the field of social sciences and urban policies. It therefore appears necessary to criticize it and demonstrate that it is mainly a rhetorical instrument for a consensual and neoliberal vision of society. It accompanies and often justifies projects and programs that claim to address the most disadvantaged but are mainly aimed to integrate them to the dominant economic model. Real contemporary myth, the Just City gives an explanation of the world, organizes a discourse and legitimate new social practices forgetting that society makes the city and not the opposite.

Keywords : Neoliberal City; Social Justice; Medellín; Sutiaba; World Urban Forum.
