Abstract
TORRES OBREGON, Diana. Between Uneven Development and the Right to the City. Reflections on Metropolitan Lima in the 21st Century. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2021, vol.31, n.2, pp.15-26. Epub Sep 20, 2021. ISSN 0124-7913. https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v31n2.86800.
The present article intends to question the production of urban space in Lima Metropolitana in the 21st century, in the midst of the global crisis that began in March 2020 as a result of the spread of COVID-19; because today, more than ever, urban space is the source for capital accumulation, as well as the irrefutable evidence of social injustices. From the perspective of Critical Urban Theory, the production of urban space is questioned in two aspects. In the theoretical realm, its importance in the neoliberal global economic context is questioned. And, in the practical realm, the factors and agents that shape it are analyzed, answering the questions: for whom is the city produced? who has the right to the city?
Keywords : urban space; neoliberalism; urban planning PalavraS-Chave: espaço urbano; neoliberalismo; planejamento urbano.
