Abstract
BELTRAN-V., JULIO and RANGEL-CH., J. ORLANDO. Hydrologic modeling of wetland Jaboque - Bogotá, D.C. (Colombia). Caldasia [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.1, pp.81-101. ISSN 0366-5232.
We propose a dynamic simulation model to explain the hydrological processes in the wetland Jaboque - Bogota, Colombia, in three sections with particular physical and chemical characteristics. The model includes the inflow and outflow for each of the sections of the wetland. The dynamic modeling was based on differential equations. Euler method was used for integration with Stella 9.1 ® computer program. The hydrological behavior of the wetland has a high dependence on afferent input from the basin, which in turn is mainly due to the climatic conditions of the basin. In 1992 (El Niño year), rainfall was 432.7 mm / year with an estimated water discharge of the afferent basin of 905,225 m3/year, which is the lowest value in the last 39 years. In 2010 (La Niña year) the annual rainfall was 1251.3 mm, with a discharge of the afferent basin of 2,471,634 m3/year, that is the highest value for the same period. The comparison between input and output streams of wetland Jaboque show a gross difference of 82 165 m3 per month, that reach for the whole year a total of 985,980 m3. The hydraulic retention time (THR) was estimated in 15 days for the first section, 36 days for the second and 42 days for the third section. The average retention time in the wetland was 93 days. Sensitivity analysis showed that between rain values of 800 mm/year and 900 mm/year, range that include the multiyear average precipitation, the behavior of the THR is 13 to 15 days in the first section, 32 to 36 days in the second section and the 38 to 43 days in the third section, These results corroborate the relationship between precipitation and wetland morphometric factors.
