Burmeistera diazii (Campanulaceae: Lobelioideae), found between 1,800 and 2,750 m in the Central Cordillera of Colombia (Sonsón and Guatapé, Deparment of Antioquia), is described as a new. The morphological similarities with its related species (B. obtusifolia from Costa Rica and Panamá, B. killipii and B. serraniaguae from Colombia, and B. crassifolia and B. loejtnantii, from Colombia and Ecuador), which are characterized by the ovate to ovate-lanceolate leaves, ebracteate peduncle, and long calyx lobes, are discussed in detail. Burmeistera loejtnantii is recorded for the first time for Colombia .
