Abstract
MIYANO, Juan Pablo and RATTO, Norma. Vicuñas and Humans in the Recent Past (Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries) of Western Tinogasta (Catamarca, Argentina). Rev. colomb. antropol. [online]. 2020, vol.56, n.2, pp.289-312. Epub Aug 05, 2020. ISSN 0486-6525. https://doi.org/10.22380/2539472x.632.
This paper examines the perception of the vicuñas by the habitants of western Tinogasta (Catamar-ca, Argentina) during the recent past (Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries). For this purpose, we analyzed traditional oral manifestations compiled in the Colección de Folklore belonging to different localities of the region of study (La Ramadita, Medanitos y Fiambalá). The results were integrated and discussed with the symbolic systems of the Andean cosmovision, information from oral and written sources of other sectors of the south-central Andes, and archaeological and zooarchaeological information of the western Tinogasta, which accounts for human-animal relationships during the V BC and XV AD centuries.
Keywords : vicuñas; Ethnozoology; Andean cosmovision; popular culture.
