Abstract
AVILA-GOMEZ, Andrés. Reflections on the teaching of architecture and urban planning in Colombia. Conversations with Jorge Vicente Ramírez Nieto and Stefano Anzellini Fajardo. 2nd series of interviews. Rev. Arquit. (Bogotá) [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.1, pp.3-15. Epub Aug 12, 2022. ISSN 1657-0308. https://doi.org/10.14718/revarq.2022.24.1.4136.
The two interviews in this series raise several questions about the teaching of architecture in Colombia during the last quarter of the 20th century. One of them has to do with the relationship, differences and similarities between public and private education: what were the possible advantages or shortcomings that during this last stretch of the 20th century embodied the programs of architecture schools, and which were reinforced by practicing teachers? The testimony of architects Jorge Ramírez Nieto and Stefano Anzellini reveals a broad social context that illustrates how Colombian society was heading, in some spheres, towards an early phenomenon of globalization. On the other hand, the interest of the protagonists in study trips and the construction of professional networks with a regional or global scope place us in a panorama of internationalization of teaching and research, whose real and effective impact on the Colombian academic environment during those years, deserves to be studied more broadly.
