Abstract
MEDINA-GARZON, Hárold; ARTEAGA-BOTERO, Gustavo Adolfo and LOPEZ-PEREZ, Cecilia. Morphologies and urban patterns in a palafitic housing complex. Vernacular housing in the village of El Morro (Nueva Venecia), in the municipality of Sitionuevo, Magdalena, Colombia. Rev. Arquit. (Bogotá) [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.2, pp.84-93. Epub Nov 25, 2022. ISSN 1657-0308. https://doi.org/10.14718/revarq.2022.24.2767.
The aim of this study are the grouping patterns present in a small-scale urban complex on the northern coast of Colombia. At the beginning of the observations, the local housing showed the constructive particularities generated by the need to build it over the water. This special attribute within the vernacular architectures in Colombia pointed out a condition to be developed. The two parts of the research development were analyzing the context of these architectures and framing the configurations of the complex. With the results, the characteristics of the ensemble and the patterns or attributes that describe the logics of this particular process were contrasted. A methodology was developed to address how to combine two aspects: on the one hand, the constructive logics used for the houses (the materials, the systems, and the constructive logics), and on the other hand, how they pass to another logic: one of grouping or ensemble. In this last aspect, the particular morphologies and typologies are something to be referenced in detail in Colombia, within the framework of vernacular or rural architectures.
