Abstract
LLANOS-CHAPARRO, Isabel; HENAO-CARVAJAL, Edison and BARCENAS-DUQUE, Daniel. Geographical adaptations of the modern house in Colombia. Four case studies on the coast, the valley the mountains and the highlands. Rev. Arquit. (Bogotá) [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.2, pp.94-105. Epub Nov 26, 2022. An analysis is presented on the relationship between domestic architecture -built during the 1950s and 1960s- and the geographic characteristics of Colombia. The article exposes, through the works, the organic link between the territory -the topos- and the different architectural types that emerged in accordance with it. In particular, the cases of the firms Obregón-Valenzuela and Borrero-Zamorano-Giovanelli, and of the architects Gutiérrez-Arango-Sanint, who conceived houses on the coast, the valley, the mountains, and the highlands, are studied. The reflection focuses on the variations and invariants of the building types, in other words, the structure they share and that in which they differ. The above is first accomplished by providing a description of the geography in which they are located. Then, it depicts the way in which each of the houses establishes a relationship with the site. Thus, a contribution to the reflection on the 20th century modern architecture in Colombia is configured, with a look at the topological dimension of the house.
