Abstract

GARCIA RUPAYA, Carmen Rosa. KNOWLEDGE OF ETHICS AND BIOETHICS OF THE DENTIST IN THE FIELD OF THE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY. rev.latinoam.bioet. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.1, pp.70-75. ISSN 1657-4702.

The intention of the present study was to evaluate ethical and bioethics formation of the teacher in a Public Faculty of Dentistry in Lima. It was done a descriptive study, applying a questionnaire prepared especially for the study which was put under a validation process that beginning with a judgment of experts. It consisted of 10 questions that included data of ethics concepts, bioethics, informed consent, autonomy of the patient, complete information, and code of ethics of the dentistry school. The sample was conformed by 45 teachers that worked in different areas and with different time from dedication and antiquity in teaching. One obtained absolute and relative frequencies of the study variables, also it was applied the Spearman's Rho and the square Chi. About the teachers, the average age was 51 years, the antiquity in teaching in average was 15 years and the majority referred to have some religious belief (97.8%). The teachers reached an average score of 7 on 10. One was not significant associations between the study variables. Conclusions: the teachers must training in order to efficiently orient the student, in relation to the ethical and bioethical aspects, which must be included in the education - learning process of the student of Dentistry throughout his formation, because this knowledge must generate an attitude more solid and responsible for the professional throughout their professional exercise.
