MONTENEGRO, Yamile Andrea. US Sanctions on Venezuela: Regional Consequences. rev.relac.int.estrateg.segur. [online]. 2021, vol.16, n.2, pp.121-139.  Epub Dec 31, 2021. ISSN 1909-3063.  https://doi.org/10.18359/ries.5916.

International sanctions constitute political instruments of international law whose application has spread throughout the international relations system. Nevertheless, the imposition and implementation of these sanctions adversely affect the recipient, the countries of the region it belongs to, and their relations. The article reviews and analyzes the sanctions imposed by the United States on Venezuela since 2014 and the influencing effect in the region regarding political, immigration, and security aspects. In the Venezuelan case, the sanctions have not only deteriorated the country's economy and social situation but have also had repercussions on other Latin American countries and regional integration.
