Abstract
BEDOYA MEJIA, Eliana Isabel. Ancestral Music: Instruments, Sounds and Subjectivities in Movement. Pensam. palabra obra [online]. 2021, n.25, pp.4-18. Epub Feb 19, 2022. ISSN 2011-804X. https://doi.org/10.17227/ppo.num25-12120.
In this research article, it is approached the musics of gaitas and caña de millo of the Collombian Caribbean region which have been executing and investigating the musicians participating of the projection group and research seedbed of Caribbean music belonging to the Escuela Superior Tecnológica de Artes Débora Arango. The approach focuses on the rhythms, instruments and execution techniques for which artistic referents of these musics were explored such as Gaiteros de San Jacinto, gaiteros de Pueblo Santo, among others. The research from which the article derives, assumed the Research Based on the Arts (IBA), as a methodological perspective, from which workshops, semi-structured interviews and spontaneous conversations were conducted. It made possible to explore music as a cultural experience. In this sense, the study concludes that the ancestral music that the participants of the seedbed bring with them, in their processes of displacement from the Caribbean region to the interior of the country, not only constitutes a significant identity dimension in their lives, but also a subjective force that contributes to being uniquely incorporated in the region that receives them. The study also highlights the deployment of a pedagogical strategy of reception, called research seedbed, and its role in the conservation of intangible heritage, for which it is necessary to assess and expand similar strategies in contexts characterized by the socio-cultural mobility of the population.
