MONTENEGRO MARTINEZ, Marisela; PIPER SHAFIR, Isabel; FERNANDEZ DROGUETT, Roberto and SEPULVEDA GALEAS, Mauricio. Experience and Materiality at Places of Collective Memory in Chile. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2015, vol.14, n.spe5, pp.1723-1734. ISSN 1657-9267. https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.upsy14-5.emlm.
The monuments and places of memory built in Chile to remember the human rights violations that occurred during the military dictatorship (1973-1990) contribute to the construction of hegemonic versions of these events. which have the effect of producing a "truth" about the facts. This article discusses the results of a research conducted at Santiago de Chile and shows how visitors of these places of memory relate to the space and interpret its materiality as a "proof of truth". The analysis was based on the notion of experience, understood as a product arising in the assembly of bodies, objects, discourses and practices that are update in the interaction between visitors and memory places.
Keywords : human rights; theaters of memory; experience; semiotic-material assemblage.
