Abstract
SUAREZ DIAZ, Diana Carolina; LIZ, Andrea del Pilar and PARRA MORENO, Carlos Fernando. Building Communal Tissue from the Perspective of New School in Colombia. A Case Study. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.15, pp.195-229. ISSN 1900-6586.
This research arises from the authors' interest in rural education, whose main problem is inequity, low coverage and quality of education, as evidenced by high repetition rates, school desertion, extra school age, lack of educational service, adverse conditions such as distance, poverty, armed conflict and cultural anachronism, that affect teachers' pedagogical multi-grade practice, concerning this context. The methodology is qualitative, taking into account the hermeneutic approach and the Action Research Methodology, making use of the Case Study Method, along with techniques of In-Depth Interviews, Non-Participant Observation, and Document Review, as well as instruments such as scripts, notebooks, bibliography cards, and a research diary. The research is grounded theoretically in Rural Education, New School and Pedagogical Practice Approaches. The research results give an account of the contexts and difficulties of education regarding the four constituent components of the New School Model: Curriculum, Teacher Training, Community, and Educational Managing. It is concluded that most problems are associated to Educational Managing by Government in a governance context.
Keywords : multi-grade teaching; new school components; pedagogical practice; rural education.
