Abstract
OJEDA PEREZ, Robert; ALDANA PADILLA, Edwin David and BOHORQUEZ MAHECHA, Santiago. Military operations and diplomatic strategy in the Colombian-Peruvian War of 1932-1933. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.39, pp.653-669. Epub July 01, 2022. ISSN 1900-6586. https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.863.
This article analyzes the Colombian Armed Forces’ operations in the 1932-1933 Colombian-Peruvian border conflict and the negotiations before and after the ratification of the Salomón-Lozano Treaty of 1922 between the two countries. To this end, a documentary review of press reports at the time and other historical sources is carried out to verify to what extent this conflict determined the bilateral relations between the two countries. The results show that Colombia’s diplomatic and military strategy in handling the resolution of the conflict enhanced the development of the Colombian Armed Forces, positioning the country before the international community and the region as a strong nation with good diplomatic relations.
