Abstract
BONILLA-CALLE, Daniel. Characterization of gold mining actors in Buriticá and Bajo Cauca, Antioquia. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2023, vol.21, n.41, pp.201-221. Epub Jan 01, 2023. ISSN 1900-6586. https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.997.
Gold mining in Antioquia has not only encouraged the circulation of capital, but also the establishment of its own social order. This article characterizes the practices and interactions of the different actors involved in gold mining in the municipality of Buriticá and the sub-region of Bajo Cauca, Antioquia, between 2016 and 2022. The methodology used for the development of the research was a combination of qualitative techniques that included field observation, more than seventy in-depth interviews, and consultation of multiple documentary sources. One of the main findings is that State agents and criminal groups act in collusion to collect revenues, not only from mining but also from other sources of State and productive financing, which has a negative impact on local communities.
