The results obtained in the econometric estimates allow endorse the hypothesis that social capital has positively and significantly influenced productivity and the level of economic development. In this sense, it is concluded that it is advisable to define and implement policies that support social networks, especially in the weaker regions, in order to facilitate a process of regional convergence that makes a high degree of economic and social cohesion among the Spanish regions feasible.
