This paper tackles the mergers and acquisitions of Latin American companies by more powerful firms. It establishes the hypothesis according to which the mergers and acquisitions for companies that carry out transactions related with sale of their shares have a positive effect on the returns of the company seller in the event date. The methodology to measure the impact of mergers or acquisitions is the study of events or happenings.
