Abstract

ZAPATA V, MARÍA ISABEL. Press Photography About April 9, 1948 - Between Remembrance and Oblivion. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2006, n.5, pp.167-191. ISSN 1794-2489.

The life of Colombians has established itself throughout the years in an identitarian way through common places and important dates. One of those dates is the 9th of April of 1948. But this investigation, more than just concentrating on the details of the life of the liberal leader who died on this fateful day, Jorge Eliecer Gaitan, and the consequences of his death in itself, pauses and reflects on the graphic form in which the newspapers El Siglo and El Tiempo and the magazine Cromos have presented the death of this leader and the surrounding circumstances; and how between 1948 and 1973 photographic presentations have changed in those publications.

Keywords : April 9, 1948; history of photography; cultural history; cultural studies.
