Abstract Most research in Colombia regarding trans population health issues is related to sexually transmitted diseases. however, regarding body transformation has been scarcely studied despite its importance for the population. Therefore, this document describes the process of body formation from aesthetic modelants among some transgender women working in prostitution in los Mártires neighborhood. Driven by social constructionism theory, information was gathered through interviews and focal groups. Findings are presented under four categories: gender identity, body shaping techniques, context of prostitution, and healthcare system. As a major conclusion, this turns to be a public health issue, as it is a clandestine practice, and because of the naturalization of both the mortality and morbidity happenings this method has caused.
