Abstract

GUEVARA ORDONEZ, Nadia S. Liberalism and Biopolitics in La Paz City in the Wake of the 20th Century. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2020, n.34, pp.64-81.  Epub Feb 25, 2021. ISSN 1794-2489.  https://doi.org/10.25058/20112742.n34.04.

We inquiry here on how biopolitics is built in the Bolivian stage in general, and in La Paz city, specifically, at the beginning of the 20th century, and its crossings with other currents of thought targeting a re-design of the population and the establishment of a modernity project, like a civilizing project, within the framework of a liberal project. In order to do that, we will present a case of reshaping La Paz urban settings, especially Challapampa neighborhood, as an example of a workers‘ city.

Keywords : Biopolitics; liberalism; indigenous people; urban process; modernity, Governmentality..
