Abstract

At a time defined by rationalism, the poetic of Carlos Fuentes is characterized by the recovering of the deepest zones of the human being, universally and including the Mexican identity. This paper's propose is to show an approach to four fundamental axes of symbolic imaginary presents in the novels of Carlos Fuentes in his work written between 1958 and 1980. The analyzed axes, essentially from the mythocritic theory of Gilbert Durand, are: the abismal, the sacrificial, the prisons of the being and the nocturne.
