Abstract
VEGA-SAMPAYO, ELENA. THE ACT OF TOUCHING AND CHARACTER PSYCHOGENESIS INTHREE NOVELS BY MERCÈ RODOREDA. perifrasis. rev.lit.teor.crit. [online]. 2021, vol.12, n.24, pp.31-49. Epub July 29, 2021. ISSN 2145-8987. https://doi.org/10.25025/perifrasis202112.24.02.
This article analyzes a common trait, grounded on the act of touching, in the character psychogenesis of the three novels by the Catalan author Mercè Rodoreda (1908-1983): Aloma, The Time of the Doves, and A Broken Mirror. This is approached from two psychoanalytic concepts: the skin-ego, by Didier Anzieu, and the thing, by Jacques Lacan. Through these, touch, desire, and the dissolution of psyche and reality will be described as a pattern that appears since the early production of the author and that can be traced in the main characters of these three novels.
Keywords : Mercè Rodoreda; Peninsular prose; 20th century; psychoanalysis; character psychogenesis.
