Abstract

PLATA LOPEZ, Luis Carlos  and  CABRERA PENA, Karen Isabel. Colombian Norms about Intellectual Property: An Analysis of the Public Policy in Science, Technology, and Innovation from the Economic Development. Opin. jurid. [online]. 2011, vol.10, n.20, pp.87-103. ISSN 1692-2530.

This article is intended to show a theoretical framework which provides a general association of the public policy concept (specially the public policy relationship to science, technology, and innovation) with the economic development and the intellectual property protection systems. The analysis is made from the perspective of the developing countries, specifically Colombia, and it was concluded that a standardized intellectual property system is not the most appropriate one to be used since there is not consistency between the theory analyzed and the guidelines set forth by a public policy which only recognized the importance of intellectual property in 2009 through norms anachronistic with the objectives of such a policy.

Keywords : Public policy; science; technology; and innovation; economic development; intellectual property.
