Abstract
BAUTISTA, Heider and LIZARAZO, Jairo. Diseminated nocardiosis in a HIV-negative patient. A difficult to treat case. Acta Neurol Colomb. [online]. 2015, vol.31, n.3, pp.267-273. ISSN 0120-8748.
Disseminated nocardiosis is a severe illness, specially when the central nervous system is affected. We present a case report of pulmonary, muscular, articular, CNS and ocular nocardiosis in a HIV-negative female. Nocardia spp. was cultivated from lung mass. The patient management was difficult due to a poor response to the treatment with traditional antibiotics such as trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, amikacin, ceftriaxone and meropenem. Finally, the patient have been improved with the conjugated treatment of linezolid, clarithromycin and moxifloxacin during several months. Aspects of the treatment have been discussed.
