Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the complex concept of time - its philosophical and scientific dimensions, and, therefore, to recognize the need of further research about the respective teaching and learning process. Four dimensions will be carried out: in depth approach of several scientific and philosophical views on the nature of time; reflection on current perceptions of time; development of a set of considerations, concerning the quantification of time, mainly the physical, human and geological time; authors' reflection on a set of educational implications of the topic in the context of an ongoing research project.
