This research evaluated the management models of rural drinking water and basic sanitation projects. 200 projects were collected from the governorate, mayor and regional environmental authority. 42 projects formulated and executed were selected, they were used as input to carry out an integral qualitative analysis of 14 variables. According to the results, they did not take into account variables such as technological changes, sectorization and type of communities. Variables such as geographic information systems, socioeconomic evaluation, citizen participation and coverage were partially taken into account and variables that were taken into account were technological appropriation, technical regulation of the potable water sector and basic sanitation 2000, governability. The projects evaluated tend to partially comply with the minimum requirements established by law and do not comply with parameters that, although not mandatory, are important to meet the changing needs of communities in basic sanitation and potable water.
