This paper presents a social-historical approach to the institucionalization of the first program of Nutrition and Dietetics in Universidad Nacional de Colombia from the perspective of the public health, and the national processe that gave origin to the Instituto Nacional de Nutrición and the Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar, with special reference to Roberto Rueda Williamson life and work.
