Abstract
MURILLO, HENRY. Predation of Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) eggs in cotton and corn in El Espinal, Tolima, Colombia. Rev. Colomb. Entomol. [online]. 2014, vol.40, n.1, pp.63-66. ISSN 0120-0488.
During an assessment of the predation of egg masses of Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) and corn (Zea mays) crops, natural predation rates between 20.8 and 92.3% were observed. Also, it was observed that the predator Coleomegilla maculata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) was the most common species. These data confirm the potential of this predatory insect as natural biological control agent and highlights the need for greater efforts at studying and using it.
