Abstract

VANEGAS CARRASCO, CAROLINA. In- visibility of the Double Statue of the Colombian Founding Father Antonio Nariño. Anu. colomb. hist. soc. cult. [online]. 2015, vol.42, n.2, pp.385-410. ISSN 0120-2456.  https://doi.org/10.15446/achsc.v42n2.53341.

The opposition visibility-invisibility is the axis of the analysis of the iconographic construction and the reception of the statues of Antonio Nariño - original and copy - made by the French sculptor Gréber Henri-Leon (1855-1941) and installed, in 1910, in the Colombian cities Bogota and Pasto, on the occasion of the Centenary of the Independence. The analysis shows the symbolic scope of the commemorative sculptures, in their narrow relation with their site and the speeches that accompany them, as well as the importance of the updating of their uses.

Keywords : Antonio Nariño; monument; centenary of Independence; iconography; Human rights.
