Abstract
MARIN S, Pedro and BECERRA B, Eudocio. Inhabitants of the Subaquatic World. Ritual and Myth. Marui Iye Fia Rafue. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2006, n.19, pp.103-124. ISSN 0120-338X.
The event of collective fishing Ilye Fia Rafue or barbasqueada in the Uitoto community in the State of Amazon (Colombia) provides valuable information about their symbolic world, their notion of exchange and reciprocity, and their concept of ecology and community work. This paper describes the staging of the rite the fishes´ celebration where the intimate communion with nature, and especially with the aquatic world as a source of life, purification and regeneration center is visible together with a conglomeration of correspondences involving all their symbolic world. Linguistic data on morphology and lexical classifiers related to aquatic fauna and flora are also provided. This is very useful information to establish the descriptive capacity and the semantic potential of this Amazon language.
