Abstract
RODRIGUEZ, Camilo Andrés Delgado. ARE ANIMALS MY GRANDPARENTS OR ARE THEY PART OF A POLITICAL ORGANIZATION? REFLECTIONS ON METAPHORS IN WAYÚU BILINGUAL INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2012, vol.25, n.2, pp.161-184. ISSN 0120-338X.
Metaphor is a conceptual mechanism that allows us to grasp reality according to the cultural valuation of a specific phenomenon. Each culture creates en experiences its own metaphors on the basis of a worldview. In this sense, the article explores the differences between metaphoric conceptions of animals in Wayuunaiki and Spanish, since the former conceives them as a familial society and the latter as a political society. The objective of the analysis is to reveal the cultural differences among languages and the way in which bilingual interculturalism can be handled in the classroom in indigenous contexts so that endocultural knowledge can play an important role at school.
