Abstract
CAUTIN-EPIFANI, Violeta. VIRTUAL POWER AND ADDRESS FORMS IN COMPUTER-MEDIATED DISCOURSE: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY IN A VIRTUAL COMMUNICATIVE NETWORK. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.1, pp.55-78. ISSN 0120-338X. https://doi.org/10.15446/fyf.v28n1.51971.
The objective of this paper is to analyze the use of address forms in computer-mediated discourse in relation to the virtual power that members of a virtual communicative network hold. After analyzing a corpus of 324 interactions produced through Facebook by 5 Chilean men, we concluded that in the virtual community studied a solidarity, symmetrical treatment prevails. This may be explained due to the fact that in this context the address system established previously among users outside the virtual network takes precedence.
Keywords : forms of address; computer-mediated discourse; nominal forms of address; power; solidarity.
