Abstract

ALVAREZ, Andrés; GUIOT-ISAAC, Andrés M.  and  HURTADO, Jimena. BECOMING A PRAGMATIC TECHNOCRAT. THE BEGINNINGS OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF COLOMBIAN ECONOMISTS. Desarro. soc. [online]. 2019, n.82, pp.41-71. ISSN 0120-3584.  https://doi.org/10.13043/dys.82.2.

The initial years of the Economics Department and the Center for the Study of Development Economics at Universidad de los Andes are an exemplary case of the beginnings of the formation of professional economists in Colombia. Through archival research we reconstruct the first twenty years of this project that counted with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation and answered to the increasing demand for professional economists capable of producing technical analysis of the countries development challenges.
