Abstract

SUAREZBURGOA, LUDGER; CASTRO CAICEDO, ÁLVARO  and  PACHECO DE ASSIS, ANDRÉ. MECHANICAL ANISOTROPY OF THE GNEIS AT THE PORCE III HYDROELECTRIC POWERHOUSE. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2010, n.27, pp.79-96. ISSN 0120-3630.

In this work is presented the results of the different laboratory tests carried out on gneissic intact rock of the Porce III Hydroelectric Project, Colombia, in order to determine the degree of deformation and failure strength anisotropy under stress. This study concludes that the gneiss is a sound, brittle, of high strength and low grade anisotropic rock, and can be well modeled by a transverse isotropic linear elastic behavior under the Drucker-Prager failure criterion.

Keywords : Gneiss; transverse isotropy; intact rock; Porce III; Colombia.
