Abstract

GAITAN ALVAREZ, Johanna. Incidence of the Agglomeration Economies in the Real Sector Located in the Urban Area of Bogotá. Ens. polit. econ. [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.spe70, pp.157-214. ISSN 0120-4483.

This paper analyzes location patterns and geographic concentration of 19 real sectors in the economy of Bogotá to identify economic agglomerations and the impact of these. The methodological approach focuses first on identifying the economic agglomerations based on distance between firms through Ripley's K function to determine the level of economic agglomeration. In contrast to previous studies, the second part of this analysis, estimates an econometric model to measure the impact of agglomeration economies on the firm's productivity in the Colombian Capital. The results show that the sectors of the economy show specific concentration patterns and the benefits of the economies of agglomeration vary according to the sector analyzed.
