This paper examines Dretske's different theories about Mental Content and their relation with his epistemological commitments in order to conclude that conceptualizing, or holdings mental contents, is a way of knowledge; animal knowledge. In addition, the author considers against Dretske's thesis that the distinction between animal and reflective knowledge, far from being defective or fussy, is virtuous. The afore mentioned distinction keeps the diference between nature and culture, making a strong distinction between what can be naturalized by Natural History from what must be explained by appealing to justificatory practices developed through History. Only the last kind of epistemological practises are be deserving of the title of Reflexive knowledge
