Abstract

ROJAS PERALTA, Sergio E.. Loneliness, Fear of Loneliness and Democracy. Prax. filos. [online]. 2020, n.50, suppl.1, pp.25-42. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i50.8866.

Loneliness encapsules as much as a hope of living according to their own criteria, as the fear of not being able to defend one self. It is a condition at the margins of the constitution of a society. This mode of isolation of the individual allows us to think about conflict and polarization in democracy. The text analyzes the conceptions of loneliness in Spinoza's philosophy to achieve an analysis of utility. The strength of mind, virtue and condition of the courage that corresponds to understanding by the mind, is the way to seek to overcome the conflict.

Keywords : Loneliness; Fear; Democracy; Peace; Utility.
