Abstract

This research presents a theoretical review of poverty analysis in the economic development context. The objective of this document is to explore contextual elements of poverty origin, making emphasis on institutional elements in relation to world economy. Through the use of different sources of statistical data, based on World Bank data, national data from Colombia and Latin America, organized facts analysis elements are established. Statistical section uses basic correlations of the main variables related to poverty. This document does not use a complex analysis or gives emphasis on the importance of using a specific methodology; instead, it uses arguments supported by common facts. From statistical indicators showed in the form of graphs and pair correlations, essential elements of poverty nature are showed.
