Abstract

GOMEZ WALTEROS, Jaime Alberto. International migration: theories and approaches an up to date overview. Semest. Econ. [online]. 2010, vol.13, n.26, pp.81-99. ISSN 0120-6346.

This paper analyses international migration main theories and conceptual explanations under the light of economic schools, examining causes and effects; nevertheless, a brief allusion concerning other reasons and results is made and even thought they are not purely economic, they will still influence international migration. The bibliographical review parts form economics classics up to our time. It is observed that no theory by its self can offer a total explanation over international migration processes, given that the causes correspond to diverse natures as well as empiric evidences over effects that show different results.

Keywords : Migration; emigration; immigration; international migration; labor geographical mobility.
