Abstract

ARAUJO DE FREITAS, Gilvonete Maria; DA SILVA SANTOS, Marquilene; FERREIRA DE LIMA, Jean Carlos  and  FURRIER, Max. Geomorphologic Characterization with Pedological Focus and Drainage Network Analysis of the Area Corresponding to the Alhandra Leaf 1:25.000 in the States of Paraíba and Pernambuco, Northeastern Brazil. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.1, pp.41-50. ISSN 0121-215X.

The objective of this research project was to characterize the geomorphology and the drainage network of the Alhandra Leaf. Hypsometric and clinographic maps were prepared, which showed a predominance of areas with slopes of 0-3% and a minimum of areas with slopes under 45%. Altitudes vary from 2 to 137 m, making evident plains and terraces. The soil laboratory analyses carried out revealed high chemical weathering and erosion caused by etchplanation. In the drainage network, the rectangular pattern is frequent, with rectilinear courses and courses with abrupt infections, suggesting tectonic action in the region.

Keywords : Alhandra leaf; formation of barriers; pedology; drainage network; coastal terraces.
