Abstract
GONZALEZ LUNA, Fabián. Spatialization of Violence in Latin American Cities: A Theoretical Approach. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.1, pp.169-186. ISSN 0121-215X.
The aim of this paper is to carry out a theoretical discussion on how to think the spatialization of urban violence in the context of the neoliberal project. To this effect, the article analyzes the concepts of structural and symbolic violence, as well as their materialization in spatial fragmentation and social segregation, both features of recent urban processes. The analysis is based on documentary research which makes it possible to establish the basic principles of an epistemological framework for the geography of violence that can be applied in specific studies of Latin American cities.
