Abstract

RODRIGUES, Romir de Oliveira. Bitting the Red Apple: Ideology, Hegemony and School Practices in the Initial Work from Michael Apple. Pedagogía y Saberes [online]. 2017, n.46, pp.85-95. ISSN 0121-2494.

This article presents some reflections on methodological approaches incorporated into the Doctoral Research Project "On Curupira's Path: the National Program for Access to Technical Education and Employment and the Public-private Relations" in development at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. It seeks to analyze the initial Michael Apple trilogy, in order to investigate the conception of ideology and hegemony and how those categories contribute to the understanding of the internal relations between schools and their relations to society. Observing schools as active spaces, crossed by contradictions and conflicts and founded on a dialectical relation between production and reproduction, Apple reaffirms that schools are spaces of dispute and, therefore, of possibilities.

Keywords : Ideology; hegemony; school practices; Michale Apple; Education Critical Theory.
