Abstract

BARRIOS, Marta Milena. Obturating to participate. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2010, vol.18, n.1, pp.162-185. ISSN 0121-3261.

Through the participatory photography technique, this study investigated the heritage value and sense of belonging that Barranquilla's downtown has for casual visitors andpermanent users. The results suggest that the relationship of Barranquilla's inhabitants which are casual visitors with this area of the city began to recover morefrom the center of their desire's. Meanwhile, the center's permanent users seem to launch an SOS to find help to overcome theproblems that overwhelm them. This lack of coherence in the views of the people of Barranquilla around its Historic Center could affect negatively the mass mobilization that is needed for this area to operate as an integrated territory within the city's progress.

Keywords : Historical Center; Barranquilla; photography; social change; patrimonial value.
