Abstract
CARBALLO HERRERA, Arturo Rafael; VILLARREAL GOMEZ, Alejandro and DEL TORO MARTINEZ, John Jairo. Nutritional labels, food security policy. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.1, pp.168-189. ISSN 0121-3261.
Understanding the concept of policy as any action intended to achieve the common good, this article highlights the label as a control tool that enhances the development of food security from the nutritional information it contains, since this nutritional information comes from the presumption of an honest behavior derived from the producer to the consumer. In other words, the label is Food Safety Policy for it contains elements accepted as true by all consumers. This study established a review of the nutritional label's state of art by analyzing existing regulations in Colombia, as well as regulations developed by other nations. It has been observed that institutions in charge of regulation and control do not have a clear policy towards labeling as a food security tool as it is true to other countries.
