Abstract

Objective: To identify the more frequent nursing diagnosis reported by the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association among the hospitalized elderly, in order to propose related prescriptions to the hospitalized elderly. Methodology: Quantitative research, conducted with 50 elderly patients admitted to a public hospital in southern Brazil. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: Results showed that the most frequent nursing diagnosis were: Risk of infection; Risk for impaired tissue integrity; Risk for unbalanced nutrition: less than body needs; Risk of falls; Movilidad Ineffective pattern; Impaired gas exchange; Impaired physical mobility; Excess fluid volume; Changes in the pattern of bowel movements; Changes in the pattern of urinary elimination; Disturbed sensory perception: vision. From the nursing diagnosis identified, it was made a proposal for nursing prescriptions. Conclusions: It is expected that nurses will realize the importance of completing the nursing process as a fundamental part of caring for the elderly.
