Abstract

VILLENA, Mauricio G.  and  VILLENA, Marcelo J.. EVOLUTIONARY GAME THEORY (EGT) AND THORSTEIN VEBLEN’S EVOLUTIONARY ECONOMICS: IS EGT VEBLENIAN?. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2005, vol.24, n.42, pp.13-48. ISSN 0121-4772.

The aim of this article is to link Veblen’s work on evolutionary economics to recently developed evolutionary game theory (EGT). This represents the first step towards incorporating Veblen’s socio-economic evolution theory into discussion concerning applying EGT to social environments. An attempt is also made to ascertain how far elements of EGT can be used for formalising some of the basic evolutionary principles proposed by Veblen.

Keywords : evolutionary game theory; institutional economics; Thorstein Veblen.
