Abstract
ARREOLA, Juan Marroquín; CASTILLO, Omar Neme and SANTIBANEZ, Ana Lilia Valderrama. Manufacturing production, consumption energy and employment in Mexico: An analysis by class manufacturing. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2015, vol.34, n.65, pp.377-400. ISSN 0121-4772. https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v34n65.48623.
The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between energy consumption (fuel and electricity), industrial production and employment levels in Mexico during the 2003-2012 period. In the case of Mexico, power consumption does not reflect a clear relationship with either production (aggregate) or employment. To determine this relationship, a panel cointegration methodology is employed. The direction of short and long term causality is estimated. This document is relevant for economic policy since it presents favorable evidence of growth assumptions and feedback.
Keywords : Industrial production; employment; energy; electricity.
